OHI Opens a Pharmacy in Its Lakewood Health Center
OHI, (Ocean Health Initiatives), a federally qualified health center (FQHC), recently opened an onsite pharmacy in its Lakewood location, 101 Second Street. The pharmacy is open Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The OHI pharmacy in Manchester is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Because OHI is an FQHC, OHI patients from all sites are eligible to use the pharmacy under the discounted 340B pharmacy program that has a pricing tier often at a fraction of the cost of commercial pharmacy. Qualified patients will receive prescriptions at a reduced rate.
Dr. Theresa Berger, CEO of OHI, said, “Currently, our Lakewood pharmacy is filling prescriptions for self-pay patients only; but when we are participating in additional insurance networks, we will be able to fill those prescriptions as well.”
The pharmacists in Lakewood are Pharmacist-in-Charge Vijay Vohra, R.Ph. (Registered Pharmacist); Maritza Perez, R.Ph.; and Theresa Bello, R.Ph. Pharmacists and the pharmacy technician are available onsite to provide education about prescribed medications. Maritza Perez and the pharmacy technician are bilingual.
