Ocean County Business Association Membership Drive Nets Six New Members
The Ocean County Business Association (OCBA) closed its annual 2011 membership drive recently by accepting six new members, raising its membership of business owners and corporate leaders to 66.
The new members are Lisa Corcoran, Ocean Gate, Alternative Financial Services, a QuickBooks Proadvisor and financial organizer; Walter Hessberger, Brick, an architect at Walter J. Hessberger, AIA; Carrie A. Lumi, Toms River, a family attorney with the Freehold offices of Lomurro Davison Eastman & Munoz; Jennifer McMahon, director of human resources of Perlmutter Shoprite Supermarkets, Ocean County; Jason Wyatt, an elder law attorney with Novy & Associates, Manchester; and Denise Van Tassel, an Alzheimer care specialist at Alcoeur Gardens, Ocean and Monmouth counties.
OCBA, a professional category-exclusive organization whose purposes include making business referrals, networking, and providing business education, was established in 1980. OCBA has awarded the Champion of the Year, which recognizes distinguished citizens of New Jersey for their contributions to the business community, to such distinguished people as Governor Christopher Christie, then the Republican candidate for Governor; of New Jersey; and Dr. Jon Larson, the president of Ocean County College, Toms River.
OCBA also sponsors a traveling speakers’ bureau; publishes the biannual Best in Business magazine, with a distribution of more than 5,000 people throughout Ocean County; and features talks by nationally known business experts, such as Dr. Joel Naroff, a chief economist and one of the top 10 economic forecasters; and media consultant Deborah Smith, owner of Foxtrot Media LLC, featured in The New York Times, among others.
