Details of the Lakewood Township Memorial Day Parade Monday, May 29, 2017
On Monday, May 29, 2017, beginning at 10:00 a.m., members of the Lakewood Township community and organizations will be honoring our veterans, the men and women who have served and are now serving in the military, with a Memorial Day Parade and services at the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, Lakewood.
The Memorial Day ceremony will begin at the Review Stand in Town Square, Third Street and Clifton Avenue, where the Lakewood High School Marching Band will play as it marches by. The Parade will proceed down Clifton Avenue, make a right onto Main Street (Route 88), cross Route 9 South, and proceed to the All War Memorial Amphitheater.
Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller is this year’s Master of Ceremony. The Memorial Day program will begin with the Lakewood High School (LHS) JROTC posting the colors. The LHS Marching Band will lead the Nation Anthem. After the raising of the flag and an Invocation, the Honorable Mayor Ray Coles will give the mayor’s address.
Various organizations will place a wreath at the memorial, honoring our veterans. After the 21-Gun Salute, the LHS Marching Band will play Taps.
Participants in the Memorial Day ceremony include Senator Robert Singer, Assemblyman David Rible, Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles, Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller, and Committeemen Isaac Akerman, Mike D’Elia, and Meir Lichtenstein.
Participants in the parade are the Lakewood Police Department (Lead vehicle), The Lakewood Police Color Guards, the Ocean County Sheriff Department, the LHS Army JROTC, Lakewood American Legion Post #166, Jewish War Veterans, Civil Air Patrol, LCSW. SCHI. Birkur Cholim, Bethel Pentecostal Church, LHS Marching Band, and the New Jersey State Police, the Lakewood Fire Department, the Lakewood EMS, Chaveirim, Hatzolah, and the Lakewood PBA.
