Complying with the Affordable Care Act – February HR Meeting

The Affordable Care Act imposes numerous legal standards on the healthcare market in the United States, changes how healthcare is delivered and purchased by millions of Americans, and creates substantial obligations for healthcare insurance companies, providers and employers.

Three speakers, experts in their fields, present information about the Affordable Care Act Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources (JSAHR) meeting, 8:00 to 10:30 a.m., Jumping Brook Country Club, 210 Jumping Brook Road, Neptune, N.J.

The speakers are Skip Murray, the vice president of sales at Gallagher Bollinger who oversees all areas of client involvement in the benefits and human capital arena, and is an expert on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA); John Sarno, president and general counsel of the Employers Association of New Jersey (EANJ), a trade association of employers that focuses primarily on labor, health care and related HR-law issues; and Dyana Tanasy, the director of strategic initiatives at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.

Attendees will learn about the mechanics of the Health Insurance Marketplace Health insurance standards; the employer notice requirement; the employee health plan choices; the role of the Navigator; subsidy eligibility; and employee protections and legal remedies.

The registration fee, including a full buffet breakfast, is $30.00 for JSAHR members; $40.00 for nonmembers; $25.00 for those in-transition, and $10.00 for full-time students. About the Speakers: Skip Murray, the vice president of sales at Gallagher Bollinger, oversees all areas of client involvement in the benefits and human capital arena, and is one of Gallagher Bollinger’s resident experts on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). He provides clients with significant advantages in ensuring their compliance with the law, interpreting its minutia, navigating its inherent minefields and providing comprehensive short and long range planning relative to this legislation. Murray has been asked to speak on PPACA at various non-client industry functions and SHRM chapters.

John Sarno is president & general counsel of the Employers Association of New Jersey (EANJ), a trade association of employers that focuses primarily on labor, health care and related HR-law issues. He holds chief executive responsibilities, including principal adviser on government and corporate affairs, stakeholder engagement and advocacy, amicus strategy, and multi-media communication strategies. Sarno is also executive trustee to the Affiliated Physicians & Employers Health Plan, a healthcare trust for employers in New Jersey.

Dyana Tanasy is director of strategic initiatives at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. She is responsible for developing and driving strategic initiatives across the company while continuously leading Horizon’s efforts on Health Care Reform education and change management.
