Be a Part of the 90th Anniversary Keepsake Journal of the Strand Theater
To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the historic Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Avenue, Lakewood, the board of directors is giving businesses, patrons of the arts, and the community the opportunity to advertise in a keepsake journal. During the year, the journal will be distributed at all Strand shows and special events, and throughout Ocean and Monmouth counties, reaching up to 50,000 patrons.
Advertising options range from $75.00 for quarter pages to $1,000.00 for a special full- page ad that includes two tickets to the Strand’s 90th Anniversary Autumn Gala and four tickets to a performance of choice. Regular full- and half-page ads are also available.
Camille Biamonte, executive director, said, “The magnificent Strand Theater has always held a place in the heart of Lakewood, and it has always been esteemed for its enduring significance in New Jersey performing arts. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the long and fabled history of Strand, which began in 1922. Support of this important fundraising effort will help sustain the Theater’s operations, community productions, special events and community arts education programs.”

About the Strand Theater The historic Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Ave., Lakewood, was designed by world-renowned theater architect Thomas Lamb in 1922 and is listed on the N.J. and National Register of Historic Places. The Lakewood Development Corporation (LDC) purchased the Strand in 1999. A program of capital improvements by the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) provided the funding, at no cost to the taxpayers, for the construction, renovation and restoration of the theater, inside and outside.
Today the Strand Theater is considered an anchor in the downtown for creating economic growth, providing incentives for job creation, and attracting pedestrian traffic. The Strand offers year-round entertainment in plush, air-conditioned surroundings. It is a perfect venue to showcase comedians, musicals, dinner theater, stars from television and movies, and legendary musical entertainers. The reception gallery includes a catering facility for 250 people, a dance floor, and restrooms. It is ideal for theater-in-the-round, smaller events and receptions. The Strand School of the Arts offers professional training opportunities for youth.
The Strand relies on the support of Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Township of Lakewood, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority; and the LDC and the UEZ programs along with many businesses, organizations, and individuals.
