Lakewood Township to Honor All Soldiers Monday, May 29, 2023

On Monday, May 29, 2023, members of the Lakewood Township community are honoring the heroic actions of men and women who have served and are now serving in the military with a parade and services at the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, Lakewood.

The Memorial Day ceremony will begin with a raising of the flag at 11:00 a.m. The Lakewood High School Marching Band will play at 11:15 a.m. passing by the Review Stand in Town Square, Third Street and Clifton Avenue.

The parade will then proceed down Clifton Avenue, making a right onto Main Street (Route 88), crossing Route 9 South, and proceeding to North Lake Drive to the All War Memorial Amphitheater for the Memorial Day program.

Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller is the Master of Ceremony for the following events, starting at 11:45 a.m.: Posting of the Colors, National Anthem, Dismissal of Colors, Invocation, Mayor’s address by Honorable Mayor Raymond G. Coles, Prayer for our Overseas Troops, Laying of the Wreaths on Lake Carasaljo honoring our veterans, 21-Gun Salute, Playing of Taps, and Benediction.

Participants in the Memorial Day ceremony include Senator Robert Singer, and Commissioner Haines.

The Memorial Day parade will include the various veterans’ organizations, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department will be bringing their horse, Lakewood Police Department and Lakewood Police Color Guards, LHS Army JROTC, Lakewood PBA, LCSW (Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch), SCHI (School for Children with Hidden Intelligence), Bikur Cholim, CHEMED, Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission, Bethel Pentecostal Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lakewood High School (LHS) cheerleaders, LHS Marching Band, the Lakewood Soccer Club, Lakewood Public Works, Lakewood Fire Department, Lakewood EMS, Chaveirim, and Hatzolah, among others.

Participants are requested to be at their assigned location no later than 10:30 a.m. Bus transportation will be available to transport marchers from the lake back to the starting point of the parade.
