The inaugural Ocean County Business Association (OCBA) CAREing for Children Golf Outing at the Pine Barrens Country Club, Jackson, this spring was a success, netting a profit of more than $10,000 for the charity.

Robert C. Novy, Brick, the managing partner of the law firm Novy & Associates, Manchester, chaired the event. Attorney Jason L. Wyatt and Jake Mason, director of marketing for the firm, served on the committee.

“The outing was the most successful fundraiser in the charity’s history,” Novy said. “Even though we are in the midst of hot humid weather, we are only six short months away from the holidays. If we are going help children and families celebrate the holidays, it’s important to start raising funds now,” said Novy.

The OCBA has supported CAREing for Children, a 501(c)3 charity since 2001. The primary focus of CAREing for Children is to provide needy families with food and holiday gifts for their children. During the 2013 holidays alone, the members of OCBA personally donated over $6,000. These funds were used to purchase food boxes and hundreds of toys at trade shows and other venues by volunteers.

The toys were given to organizations, including the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department; State of New Jersey, Department of Children, DYFS of Toms River and Lakewood; The Hope Center, Toms River; Providence House; Seaside Heights Police Department, Ocean Inc. of Barnegat and Toms River; St. Joseph’s Church, Toms River; Morning Star Presbyterian Church, Bayville, and the Lakehurst Police Department.
