Governor Murphy Commits to Keeping N.J. Businesses Open and Safe

Posted on October 19, 2020 By

It is an accepted fact that in trying times, some people tend to blame others for any misfortunes. During a call with the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce and Lakewood New Jersey businesses, Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli and officials from Governor Murphy’s administration said they will work directly with the Orthodox Jewish Chamber and the community “every step of the way” as a team to overcome any challenges from rising numbers of COVID-19.

Duvi Honig, the CEO and founder of the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce, said, “They also committed to work together on solutions to address any rise of COVID-19; and most of all, reassured everyone that they intend to keep all businesses open and working.”

To reinforce this point, the Governor retweeted a message to the public that the Orthodox Jewish Chamber had originally tweeted, reassuring New Jersey businesses that he is here to help businesses flourish and operate safely.

Honig said, “Thank you, Governor Murphy, for your leadership reiterating your administration’s commitment to work with the Orthodox Jewish Chamber and all Lakewood Township N.J. businesses in these trying times in keeping our businesses safe and afloat.”

In another strong message of commitment to the Jewish community, the Governor recently pledged to Duvi Honig at the Governor’s roundtable, an event outside the Sheriff’s Emergency Operations Center at Miller Air Park, Berkeley Township, that his administration will take a stand to make sure no one singles out Lakewood for any rise in COVID-19 numbers. He stressed that no antisemitism or anyone seeking to instigate antisemitism will be tolerated in New Jersey.

In an effort to empower everyone, to stimulate economic growth, and to promote local community businesses, Lakewood Township and the Orthodox Jewish Chamber are hosting a JBIZ 2020 Expo at the BlueClaws Stadium, First Energy Park, 2 Stadium Way, Lakewood, November 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All businesses are encouraged to exhibit at the Expo and join as corporate sponsors.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is scheduled to give opening remarks; and Mark Zelden, U.S. Department of Labor, Washington, D.C., and the director of the Centers for Faith and Opportunity Initiative will also speak.

Enjoy a live stream concert of world-renown singer, songwriter, bass player John Ford from the Strand Center for the Arts Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 3:00 p.m.

John Ford’s music career has spanned from the mid-1960s to the 21st century. He has toured and played with musicians, such as Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, The Eagles, Frank Zappa, Marc Bolan/T. Rex, Blue Öyster Cult, ZZ Top, RUSH, REO Speedwagon, Steppenwolf, King Crimson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Billy Preston, Cat Stevens, Roy Harper and Dave Mason.

His versatility has let him play a wide range of venues from folk clubs to large scale international rock venues. After playing in various bands, Ford’s unusual percussive style of bass playing caught the eye of Strawbs’ leader Dave Cousins during a performance at Cousins’ folk club in Hounslow.

He joined Strawbs in May 1970, and Ford’s influence on the band, primarily known as a folk rock group, shifted them into a new direction in the progressive / art rock scene. Ford penned songs such as, “Heavy Disguise” and “Part of the Union,” Strawbs biggest chart hit.
